Biyografi:

Having performed concerts in numerous countries, including Germany, the United States, and the People's Republic of China, Önertürk was born in Ankara in 1986. He began his music education at the age of 12 at the Hacettepe State Conservatory under Prof. İlhan Baran. In 1999, he won a full scholarship to the Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and was accepted into Stiliana Stavreva's flute class.

Working with renowned flute artists such as Gülşen Tatu, Robert Winn, Patrick Gallois, Maurice Steger, and Emmanuel Pahud, Önertürk performed as a soloist with the Bilkent Youth Symphony Orchestra for UNICEF in February 2005. In March 2006, he was awarded the "Yamaha Scholarship" and, in 2007, the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) music scholarship.

Graduating with honors from Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts in 2007, Önertürk was accepted into the master's programs of Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover and Hochschule für Musik und Theater München. Cem Önertürk completed his master's studies with Prof. Andras Adorjan at Hochschule für Musik und Theater München as a DAAD scholarship holder, and then completed his doctoral studies with Stiliana Stavreva at the Bilkent University Institute of Music and Performing Arts in June 2013. He was awarded the title of Associate Professor in April 2015 and Professor in January 2021.

In September 2007, he won first prize at the "1st Cahit Koparal Flute Competition," in Turkey. In July 2008, he performed with an orchestra formed as part of the "Young Euro Classic" summer festival in Shanghai and Beijing, China, and Munich and Berlin, Germany.

In June and July 2011, he participated in tours of America and Canada with the "Castleton Festival Orchestra" conducted by the renowned conductor Lorin Maazel, serving as the solo flutist in 18 concerts in 7 different cities.

In the 2009-2010 concert season, he performed A. Khachaturian's flute concerto as a soloist with the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, W.A. Mozart's 2nd Flute Concerto with the Turkish-Greek Symphony Orchestra in 2011, and the world premiere of Alan Thomas's Flute and Guitar Concerto with Ceren Baran as a soloist with the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra in 2013. In 2015, he performed J.S. Bach's 2nd Suite as a soloist with the Klasik Keyifler Festival Orchestra, and in November 2017, he performed F. Borne's "Carmen" fantasy as a soloist with the Bursa State Symphony Orchestra, continuing his solo career with various concerts. In 2020, the world premiere of Cem Oslu's suite "Yolculuk" with the Anadolu Nefesli Beşlisi and the Gedik Philharmonic was met with great acclaim.

The artist meets with audiences through an intensive concert program by participating in domestic and international festivals. Among the festivals he has participated in are the Kapadokya Music Festival, organized every summer in Cappadocia and by the "Klasik Keyifler Music Association" of which he is the director, the Afyon Music Festival, the Opus Amedaus Music Festival, the Skopje Music Festival in Macedonia, the Fethiye Benyamin Sönmez Music Festival, the Eğirdir Music Festival, the "Marz Musik" Music Festival, the Würzburg Music Festival, the Münster Music Festival, the Istanbul Music Festival, the Ankara Music Festival, the Antalya Music Festival, and the "Flütistan" Festival.

Performing in important concert halls both domestically and internationally, Önertürk currently continues his career with music ensembles such as the Bilkent Symphony Orchestra, the Ankara Philharmonic Orchestra, the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, the Hezarfen Ensemble, the Goodfellas Ensemble, the Ensemble Nodus, the Anadolu Nefesli Beşlisi, TrioNeo, DuoSonant, Anka Duo, and the AFO Soloists.

In January 2021, Önertürk released the album "FLÜTOPYA," featuring works by Cem Esen, which was well-received by critics and music lovers.

One of Önertürk's most striking features is his mastery in performing modern works. Having performed the premieres of over 150 works, the artist is invited to numerous seminars, workshops, and concert events in the field of new music both domestically and internationally. As a member of the Hezarfen Ensemble, a world-renowned music ensemble since 2012, with whom he has released 3 albums, the artist is an interpreter sought after by composers in the field of new music.

In addition to his performance career, Önertürk is also known as an educator and is invited as a jury member to masterclasses and competitions held domestically and internationally. Having worked as an educator at many universities in Turkey, Prof. Cem Önertürk has served as a faculty member at Başkent University, Ankara University, and Necmettin Erbakan University, Bilkent University Faculty of Music and Performing Arts and the Uludağ University State Conservatory.

Having also performed live on national television and radio broadcasts, Cem Önertürk makes great efforts to introduce and popularize polyphonic music to all segments of the public. With this aim, he has founded the "Anadolu Nefesli Beşlisi" in 2013, and together with the Cem Önertürk - Tayfun İlhan flute & piano duo, they perform rich works of Turkish culture and musical tradition with Western musical instruments, traveling from important concert halls abroad to the smallest villages in the Anatolian geography, and are invited to many radio and television programs. Önertürk continues his academic career as a faculty member at İTÜ TMDK.
