The department aims to give a modern education at an international level that reflects the continuing leadership of our university in the fields of science and art. Musicological instruction is delivered using modern educational methods which enable the transfer of the cultural richness of both our country and the world to new generations. This evaluation of the science of music in an interdisciplinary manner enhances its integration with other fields of science.

The Musicology Department of the Turkish Music State Conservatory at Istanbul Technical University is one of the few institutions that lead in the education of musicology in our country. Undergraduate and Graduate courses are arranged under the categories of “Historical Musicology”, “Systematic Musicology” and “Folklore and Ethnomusicology”, while parallel studies examine contemporary global developments. Our goal is to produce creative musicologists with a scientifıc approach who have the qualities to lead in an ever-changing and increasingly globalized world.
