In line with the Quality Policy and strategic objectives of Istanbul Technical University, the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory adopts quality assurance as a fundamental management principle in all its educational, research, artistic, and societal engagement activities.

POLICY ON STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES AND ACCESSIBILITY

The ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory is committed to supporting the participation of students with disabilities in education, artistic activities, and student life.

In line with the accessibility and equal opportunity principles of Istanbul Technical University, the Conservatory aims to enhance its learning environment, within its available resources, by taking into account the needs of students with disabilities.

To this end, the Conservatory encourages the use of accessible learning materials, assistive technologies, digital resources, and student support services. The Braille music notation collection developed for visually impaired students, together with collaborations related to accessible software and assistive technologies, constitutes an important part of these efforts.

Recognizing the limitations arising from the use of historic buildings and existing physical infrastructure, the Conservatory continues to identify and evaluate opportunities to improve accessibility.

Practices and services for students with disabilities are regularly reviewed in light of student feedback and the contributions of relevant stakeholders, and are evaluated within the framework of the Conservatory's quality assurance system.

The ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory recognizes societal engagement as an integral part of its mission and is committed to contributing to social development through its educational, research, and artistic activities.

The Conservatory regards the preservation, research, documentation, development, and dissemination of Turkish music and its associated cultural heritage as fundamental components of its societal engagement efforts.

To this end, the Conservatory is committed to:

• Engaging with diverse segments of society through concerts, recitals, seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and similar events;
• Carrying out activities aimed at preserving cultural heritage and transmitting it to future generations;
• Strengthening collaboration with local governments, public institutions, educational institutions, non-governmental organizations, and stakeholders in the fields of culture and the arts;
• Supporting the sharing of knowledge and experience in accordance with the principles of lifelong learning;
• Promoting the use of academic knowledge and artistic production for the benefit of society;

Societal engagement activities are regularly evaluated through stakeholder feedback and quality assurance processes, and improvement actions are planned based on the findings obtained.

In line with the Research Policy of Istanbul Technical University, the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory is committed to conducting scientific research, artistic production, and cultural heritage studies through an innovative, sustainable, and ethically grounded approach that generates value at both the national and international levels.

To this end, the Conservatory is committed to:

• Promoting original scientific and artistic research in Turkish music, as well as in musicology, performance, instrument making, music technologies, and related artistic disciplines;
• Recognizing research on the historical, theoretical, and practical dimensions of Turkish music, as well as the documentation, preservation, and transmission of its cultural heritage to future generations, among its priority research areas;
• Supporting the scholarly study, digitization, and improved accessibility of manuscripts, music score collections, sound recordings, musical instruments, and other elements of cultural heritage;
• Upholding the principles of research ethics, academic integrity, open science, and intellectual property rights in all research activities;
• Encouraging interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research by fostering collaboration between music and the social sciences, engineering, digital humanities, artificial intelligence, health sciences, and other relevant fields;
• Taking an active role in national and international research networks and supporting collaborative projects, researcher mobility, and scientific cooperation;
• Strengthening the research culture and educating highly qualified researchers by encouraging the active participation of academic staff and students in research processes;
• Enhancing the quality and visibility of research outputs, including scholarly publications, artistic productions, concerts, exhibitions, recordings, projects, patents, designs, and similar scholarly and creative works;

In line with the Education Policy of Istanbul Technical University, the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory is committed to delivering student-centered, innovative, research-based, and continuously improving educational processes in accordance with the principles of quality assurance, while reflecting the distinctive nature of conservatory education and its expertise in the field of Turkish music.

To this end, the Conservatory is committed to:

• Providing an integrated approach to scientific, artistic, and practice-based education in Turkish music as well as in traditional and contemporary music;
• Sustaining an educational approach that preserves, advances, and transmits the historical heritage, theoretical foundations, and performance traditions of Turkish music to future generations;
• Effectively employing diverse teaching, learning, and assessment methods appropriate to the nature of performing arts education, including one-to-one instruction, the master-apprentice tradition, ensemble performance, stage performance, project-based learning, and jury evaluations;
• Regularly reviewing and updating academic programs in line with national qualifications, sectoral needs, scientific and artistic developments, and the views of internal and external stakeholders to ensure high-quality and up-to-date education;
• Developing students' artistic, scholarly, and professional competencies while fostering critical thinking, creativity, ethical responsibility, and lifelong learning skills;
• Integrating tradition with technology by making effective use of digital technologies, archives, music notation systems, and contemporary teaching methods throughout the educational process;
• Strengthening the international dimension of education by supporting national and international collaborations, as well as the mobility of students and academic staff;
• Recognizing the preservation, documentation, research, and transmission of cultural heritage as an integral component of educational activities;
