Biography:

Born in Istanbul in 1986, he graduated from the Department of Basic Sciences at the Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music in 2011. 

He met Samim Karaca in 2005 and began studying the oud with him. He took oud lessons from Mehmet Bitmez for four years at the conservatory, working with him on topics such as oud performance, musical understanding, and advanced oud techniques. 

In 2012, he began his Master's degree in Turkish Music at Haliç University's Institute of Social Sciences. During his Master's studies, he took classes from esteemed professors such as Erol Deran, Mutlu Torun, and Yücel Paşmakçı. In 2014, he successfully completed his Master's degree with his thesis entitled "A Study on Mehmet Bitmez's Taksims," supervised by Prof. Mutlu Torun. 

He has participated in numerous concerts, TV programs, and CD recordings both domestically and internationally with his oud. From 2009 to 2012, he was an oud player on the Classical Turkish Music program "Bizden Nağmeler" on Channel 24. Between 2008 and 2009, he taught oud lessons at Koç University's Music Club. From 2009 to 2010, he worked as a contracted musician for the Istanbul State Theatre in the play "Kuzguncuk Türküsü," directed by Cemal Ünlü. He participated as an oud artist in various programs broadcast on TRT channel, including "Enderundan Nağmeler" (2013-2015), "Bestehan" (2019-2020), and "Gönül Makamı" (2020). 

In 2015, he began working with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra. Under the baton of Sascha Goetzel, he participated in European tours with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra as a solo oud player. As part of these tours, he gave concerts with the orchestra in Zurich, Vienna, Frankfurt, and Nuremberg. In 2017, he also participated in various concerts in Hong Kong with the same orchestra, improvising Rimsky-Korsakov's symphonic suite "Scheherazade." Besides these concerts, he gave concerts in various European cities with other orchestras and soloists. 

Eroğlu, who has also accompanied various artists on their album projects, released a mini-album consisting of 3 pieces titled "Ud Improvisations" in 2024. 

Between 2014 and 2016, he worked as a "Lecturer" at the Haliç University Turkish Music Conservatory. Having completed his Proficiency in Arts education in 2024, Sarper Eroğlu has been continuing his academic activities at the Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory since 2016.
