Özlem Kolat Çakmaksoy, born in 1984 in Edirne, began her clarinet education in 1995 at the Trakya University State Conservatory under the guidance of Oktay Bağırov. She was awarded second prize in the International Young Musician of the Year competition in 1998 and third prize in 2000, both organized by the Edirne Rotary Club. In 2001, she was accepted into the clarinet class of Gürhan Eteke at the Istanbul University State Conservatory. She partcpated n a workshop wth the Covent Garden Royal Opera Solosts. As a member of the Ametist Clarinet Quintet, she performed at the 7th Eskişehir International Music Festival and the 1st, 2nd, and 4th Afyonkarahisar Music Festivals, giving various concerts and seminars during these events. Additionally, she performed at the 30th, 32nd and 33rd Internatonal Istanbul Musc Festval, Pakstan (Islamabad, Karach), Slovena (Ljubljana and Velenje), Japan (Tama-Tokyo) Clarnet Festval 2005, Turgut Res Internatonal Classcal Musc Festval, Latva (Rga), Lthuana (Vlnus and Saula), Estona (Tallnn), 16th Akbank Jazz Festval, Inda (New Delh), and varous concert halls, prmarly AKM, İş Sanat, CRR, Mll Reasürans, İzmr Art Hall, Ankara Contemporary Arts Center, and appeared as a guest artst on several TV and rado programs. She completed her undergraduate educaton n 2005 and graduated from Istanbul Unversty State Conservatory. In 2006, she was accepted to the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, where she studied clarinet with Guy Deplus and chamber music with Chantal De Buchy. In 2007, she partcpated n the works of Ensemble Alternance n Pars and took part n the season-long concert seres at the Salle Cortot n Pars. Kolat was awarded a Performer Diploma after completing one year of study at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris. In 2008, she was accepted to the master degree program at the Mmar Snan Unversty State Conservatory. That same year, she started workng as a lecturer at the ITU Turksh Musc State Conservatory. She graduated from the master degree program at the Mmar Snan Unversty State Conservatory n 2011. She gave concerts at the Borusan Musc House and unverstes wth varous chamber musc groups. In 2013, she gave a rectal at the Izmr Art Hall and gave concerts wth the Istanbul Clarnet Chor n many halls n Turkey and at ClarnetFest 2013 (Asss, Italy), 5th Internatonal Vrtuosos Musc Festval (Bulgara, Slven), ClarnetFest 2015 (Madrd, Span) and the Istanbul Woodwnd Festval 2016. Since its establishment, the Istanbul Clarinet Choir, of which she has been a member, has received the "Best Chamber Music Ensemble of the Year" award at the Donizetti Classical Music Awards 2011. In 2017, Özlem Kolat was accepted into the Art Proficiency Program at Okan University and graduated in 2022. Continuing to give concerts as a soloist, chamber musician, and with various orchestras, Özlem Kolat, continues to work as a clarinet instructor at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory.
