Göknil Bişak Özdemir was born in Istanbul. She entered I.T.U. Turkish Music State Conservatory Musical Instruments Education Department in 1987. She graduated from Musical Instruments Education Department in 1997 ranking the first. She worked with teachers like Sadun Aksüt, Alaeddin Yavaşça, Erol Sayan, Nevzat Atlığ, Selahattin Içli, Haydar Sanal, Hurşid Ungay, Göksel Baykut.

She worked as a Tanbur Artist at TRT Istanbul Radio between 1996 and 2005.

She taught Tanbur and Turkish Music Repertoire courses at Izmir Municipality Conservatory, and conducted student concerts between 1996 and 2006.

She worked as a lecturer at Haliç University Conservatory, which was founded in 1999, from its establishment until 2013. In thisperiod, she taught Tanbur and Turkish Music Solfege-Theories; and prepared and conducted various concerts.

She taught Turkish Music Solfege-Theories and Repertoire Courses at Müjdat Gezen Art Center between 1997 and 2000.

She gave concerts with “Avaze Turkish Music Women’s Ensemble” whose Art Consultancy was carried out by Prof. Dr. Nevzat Atlığ.

She ran the “Kadıköy Municipality Music Volunteers T.S.M. Choir” and conducted its concerts between 2002 and 2019. She worked as a lecturer at I.T.U. Turkish Music State Conservatory between 2005-2006 and 2013-2014.
She taught under the title of “Assistant Professor” at Okan University Conservatory between 2014 and 2020, organized concerts and served as the Head of Music Department.

She participated in domestic and international concerts of “Lale Women Ensemble”. The album “Dilhayat Kalfa”, which was recorded with this Ensemble, was released by Kalan Music in 2017.

Göknil Bişak Özdemir, who gave concerts as a Tanbur Artist and as a soloist, began working as a faculty member at I.T.U Turkish Music State Conservatory as of January 2020. She continues her works as an associate professor.
