Biography:

Following his primary education, he was admitted to the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Turkish Music State Conservatory, Department of Instrument Training, where he successfully completed his secondary, high school, and undergraduate studies. Throughout his conservatory education, he had the privilege of studying under prominent scholars and artists in the field, including Nida Tüfekçi, Yücel Paşmakçı, Şenel Önaldı, Demirhan Altuğ, Faris Akarsu, and Hurşid Ungay. He completed his master's degree in 1996 at the ITU Institute of Social Sciences, Department of Fine Arts.

In 1990, he won first prize in the national folk music competition organized by the Ministry of National Education and was awarded the "Special Solo Instrument Award."

Having conducted comprehensive research for many years on the pedagogy and development of the kemane, Verim established his own performance techniques and pedagogical methods as a result of these studies. Within the scope of his doctoral research commenced at the Baku Music Academy in 2006, he investigated the pedagogical methods of the Azerbaijani kamancheh, adapting them to the kemane, and was awarded the title of "Doctor" by the same academy in 2015.

Between 1989 and 1992, he served as a kemane performer in the Istanbul University Turkish Folk Music Ensemble conducted by Adnan Ataman, and concurrently worked at TRT Istanbul Radio during the same period.

His outstanding performance and artistic accomplishment on his instrument have enabled him to participate in numerous festivals and concerts across various provinces domestically, as well as in approximately 54 countries internationally. In addition to predominantly performing the kemane on numerous album and CD projects, he has also undertaken responsibilities as an arranger and music director.

As of 2022, Verim was appointed as the General Music Director at the Ümraniye Municipality Music Academy, where he currently continues his roles as the Turkish Folk Music (THM) Choir Conductor and kemane instructor.

Having received the title of "Associate Professor" in the field of Turkish Folk Music Performance in 2024, Kadir Verim continues his academic and artistic activities at the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory, Department of Instrument Training, where he served as a contractual instructor from 1992 to 2003, and has been a tenured faculty member since 2003.
