Biography:

Graduated with a high school diploma from Istanbul University State Conservatory’s Violin performance program in 1996, she received her BA in Prehistory at the same univesity’s Archaelogy and Art History Department in 2002. In 2006, she completed her MA in ethnomusicology at Istanbul Technical Univesity, Advanced Studies In Music Department (ITU Miam). Between 2010-1014, she attended the Ohio State Univesity’s School of Music, Ethnomusicology PhD program, she had also worked as a Teaching Associate at the same university. Since 2014, she has been conducting her research to obtain a Music PhD degree at ITU Miam. Her areas of interest are music archaeology, ethnomusicology, European art music, popular musics.
She presented her first paper in 2005 at the University of Cambridge, School of Music; she gave her last scientific presentation, titled as “The Role of Sound in Hittite Festivals” at the Sounds of Prehistory and Antiquity conference in 2017, at the Research Center for Music Iconography of the City University of New York (CUNY).
She taught European Art Music History, Organology, World Music, Popular Music, and Ethnomusicology classes both in Turkish and in English at ITU TMDK; she taught Baroque Music history, World Music, and Rock Music History classes at the Ohio State University.
