Biography:

Born in Ankara, studied cello and chamber music at Istanbul University State Conservatory. She graduated from Mimar Sinan University, Department of Mathematics in 1996 and continued her cello studies with Reyent Bölükbaşı at Istanbul Technical University Dr. Erol Ucer Advanced Studies in Music (ITU/MIAM), graduating with a music master’s degree in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2009. As a member of the Anatolia Ensemble, she took part in various festivals in Turkey and abroad and featured on two CD’s, “Ege ve Balkan Dansları” and “Itri ve Meragi”. Özgen has given a number of solo and chamber music concerts, and played in Cemal Reşit Rey Symphony Orchestra, Enka Sinfonietta and Aşkın Ensemble. Between 2012-23, she served as vice director and director at ITU/MIAM, respectively. Her solo album titled "Karadeniz", consisting of world premiere recordings, was released by A.K. Muzik label in November 2023. She is now teaching cello, chamber music and Turkish Makam Music courses as a professor at Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory and ITU/MIAM.
