Biography:

She was born in 1986 in Istanbul. She graduated from Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory, Department of Musicology. During her undergraduate education, she attended the University of Cologne (Universität zu Köln) for one year with the Socrates / Erasmus Exchange Program. In 2007, she started to work with Hakan Sezgin on music therapy in children with autism. In 2008, she participated in the workshops organized by German music therapist Dr. Karin Schumacher on music therapy in children. In 2009, she continued her education in Istanbul Technical University Master of Music program in Turkish Music. She worked in the field of music theory and historical musicology. In 2010, she started to work as a research assistant at Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory Music Theory Department. In 2012, she started her Phd in Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences. In addition to religious music, she focused her research on the late Ottoman-early Republican period. She continued her studies on historical musicology and personal archives in the Ottoman / Turkish Music Research Group (OTMAG), founded in 2014. In addition to being a researcher, she worked as an editor and an assistant editor at OTMAG. In January 2018, she was appointed to the Department of Musicology as a lecturer. She gives lectures in the field of historical musicology.
