Biography:

 

Erhan Uslu was born in Akşehir, Konya. He interested in music at an early age with the encouragement of his father. He completed his primary and secondary education in Akşehir. In 2006, he was admitted to Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory Department of Basic Sciences. During the conservatory education, he studied about music theory, repertoire, baglama and voice training with the specialist scholars such as Can Etili and Erol Parlak. He accompanied singers in the studios and the stages with baglama . Uslu formed his art profile as “playing and singing tradition”. He participated in various TV and radio programs as a guest and gave solo concerts throughout the country.

During the university education, He did double major. In 2011, he got his first bachelor's degree from Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory, Basic Sciences Department. In the year 2012, he graduated from his second degree from Turkish Folk Music Main Art Branch of the Department of Voice Education.

He graduated from Kocaeli University, Institute of Social Sciences, Musicology Master Program in 2014 with his master thesis titled “The Analyses of Instrument and Vocal Performance Characteristcs of Abdals in Middle Anatolia in the Light of Neşet Ertaş”. Between 2012-2014, he served as a guest lecturer in Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music State Conservatory Department of Voice Education. In 2014 he started to work as a Research Assistant at the Department of Voice Education. In the same year, he was accepted to Istanbul Technical University, Institute of Social Sciences Musicology and Music Theory PhD program.

He performed solo performances in important concert halls of Europe such as Germany, Austria, Belgium and France. In September 2015, he participated in the “Gasırlar Sazı Festivali” organized in Almaty, Kazakhstan as a saz and vocal performer. He was invited two times to performe solo and band performances in “Saz Festival” organized in Belgium in February 2016 and 2017. He had workshops on Central Anatolian Abdal Music in Belgium and Germany.

He currently maintains his artistic activities, prepares his PhD thesis in Musicology and Music Theory Department and still serving as a research assistant in İTÜ Turkish Music State Conservatory Department of Voice Education.
