Born in Istanbul, Hatice Doğan Sevinç began her education at Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Turkish Music State Conservatory in 1991, majoring in the Three-Stringed Classical Kemenche. She started her kemenche studies under Ahmet Kadri Rizeli, continued with İhsan Özgen, and graduated from İhsan Özgen’s class in 2001. Between 2004 and 2005, she pursued a Master’s degree in Turkish Music at the Haliç University Institute of Social Sciences, completing her Proficiency in Art program at the same institute in 2012.
From 2005 to 2009, Sevinç served as a lecturer in Three-Stringed Classical Kemenche at Haliç University’s Turkish Music Conservatory. Between 2005 and 2010, she was both a choir artist and a soloist with the Cemal Reşit Rey Turkish Music Ensemble, performing in numerous concerts domestically and internationally. In 2011, she released her album Dönüş Yolu (Return Path).
Sevinç has performed as a soloist with several esteemed orchestras, including the ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Chamber Orchestra, Istanbul Chamber Orchestra, İzmir Yaşar University Chamber Orchestra, Karşıyaka Chamber Orchestra, Eskişehir Anadolu University Symphony Orchestra, Macedonia Symphony Orchestra, Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, İzmir State Symphony Orchestra, Presidential Symphony Orchestra, Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, Çukurova State Symphony Orchestra, Bursa Regional State Symphony Orchestra, Aşkın Ensemble, and MIAM Ensemble. She has also performed with the Lale Women Ensemble in Amsterdam and Boston, and with the Secret Ensemble in London. In 2017, Kalan Music released the album Dilhayat Kalfa, recorded with the Women Ensemble.
In April 2017, Sevinç performed the world premiere of Münir Nurettin Beken’s Double Concerto with the Cameristi della Scala Orchestra at Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. In October 2019, she premiered Hasan Niyazi Tura’s Kemenche Concerto with the Antalya State Symphony Orchestra.
Her contributions to education include the publication of two instructional books: Tek Tel Üzerinde Parmak Alıştırmaları (Finger Exercises on Single String for Three-Stringed Classical Kemenche) in 2018 by Pan Publishing, and Pozisyon Geçiş-İniş Alıştırmaları (Position Change-Drop Exercises on Single String for Three-Stringed Classical Kemenche) in 2023 by Istanbul Technical University Publications.
In 2019, she was featured as a kemenche soloist on the CD 43. Yılında İZDSO (43rd Anniversary of the İzmir State Symphony Orchestra), released by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s Fine Arts Directorate. In 2021, she appeared as a soloist with both kemenche and vocals on the CD Kadınlar Dünyayı Çalıyor Söylüyor (Women Play and Sing the World). In 2020, she collaborated with Azerbaijani kamancha artist İmamyar Hasanov on the Kamancha & Kemenche project at the CRR Concert Hall. In 2022, she performed the Ayshe’s Dance project with Cameratalia at CSO Ada, reprising the performance in 2023 at the Ahmed Adnan Saygun Art Center, and in 2024 at the Antalya Cultural Road Festival at Re 22 Cultural Arts Center.
In 2024, Sevinç received the “Outstanding Achievement in Education and Instruction Award” at the Istanbul Technical University Awards for 2023, as well as the “Outstanding Academic Performance Award” from ITU. In March 2022, she founded the ITU 250th Anniversary Turkish Music Choir, where she continues to serve as conductor and has led numerous performances. A faculty member at ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory since January 2009, she was appointed Assistant Professor in March 2016, promoted to Associate Professor in 2018, and achieved the rank of full Professor in 2024. She continues her academic and artistic work at ITU.
