Biography:

Ayşegül Altıok received her Bachelor degree, Master’s degree and PhD degrees in Turkish Music and Voice Training from Istanbul Technical University. She designed the phonetic alphabet system which should be applied for Turkish folk music during her doctoral thesis named "The Investigation of the Bozlak Singers in Turkish Folk Music in Terms of Voice Technique" As a result of her research with important phoniatries, she combined the musicology studies with voice education studies and revealed that the Turkish Music Voice Training System and the Opera Voice Training system are different in the scope of ITU Scientific Research Projects. She took part in many projects as soloist and chorist. In 2013, she was the coordinator of 16 April World Sound Day panels and concerts in cooperation with ITU-TRT. In 2014, she released a solo album called “CÂN” by Sinan Cem Eroğlu who is the music director with Artist Müzik label. Since 2008, she has been working as a presenter at the undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and honorary doctoral ceremonies of ITU and working as a vocal coach for many important Turkish soloists. She currently teaches Voice Education, Voice Physiology, Method Preparation and Development Techniques (Voice) courses within the body of İTÜ Turkish Music State Conservatory Voice Training Department and ITU Graduate School of Social Sciences Performance Master Program.
