Biography:

Born in Malatya, Akdağ completed his primary, secondary and high school education in the same province. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Music Education Department of the Faculty of Education at Inönü University, his master's degree at the Conservatory of Haliç University, his doctoral studies at the Music and Performing Arts Doctoral Program in the Art and Design Department of Yildiz Technical University and became an associate professor in 2023. In 2000, Akdağ was appointed as a music teacher by the Ministry of National Education in Istanbul. He served as a bağlama teacher at Istanbul Fine Arts High School, where he worked for nine years after being assigned there in 2006. That same year he participated in the study of writing and structuring the teaching programs of fine arts high schools conducted by the General Directorate of Secondary Education of the Ministry of National Education. As part of this initiative, he authored the “Bağlama Curriculum” and the four-volume “Bağlama Textbooks.” in 2012, his book “Bağlamada Düzenler ve Tezene Tavırları”, in 2016, his book “Bağlama Metodu-I”prepared for non-formal education institutions, in 2024, the book “Çalgı Eğitimi”, in 2025, the book “Bağlamada Tezenesiz Çalış Teknikleri Metodu” was published by Pan Publishing. In 2023 his work titled "İki Telli Saz Ruzba Metodu“ was published by Kitapol Publishing. Akdağ released the instrumental album “Eşik” with Bağlama Quintet in 2003. This was followed by “Girizgah” with Devr-i Alem polyphonic music ensemble in 2009, his solo instrumental album “Derun” in 2012, the Bağlama & Guitar Duo album “Firez” with guitarist Efgan Rende in 2015, and his solo instrumental album "Serüven" in 2020. In total, Akdağ has five instrumental albums (including two solo albums), one choral and orchestral album and twelve singles. Since 2015, Akdağ, has been serving as a bağlama teacher in the Instrument Department at Istanbul Technical University State Conservatory of Turkish Music, where he continues his academic and artistic studies.
