Biography:

He completed his undergraduate studies B.A. (1995) at the Technical University of Istanbul, later his postgraduate M.A. studies (1997) and his Ph.D. (2007) at the Institute of Social Sciences of the same University with Prof. Yalçın Tura. Later, he taught instrumental and Byzantine music in various music schools and private conservatories and universities in Greece (2000-2017). He wrote several articles in the field of Musicology and Ethnomusicology, participated in many international symposiums and activities, most of them in Turkey. The main area studies are the Greek and post-Byzantine music resources in comparison with Turkish-Ottoman Music ones and Turkish Music compositions written by Byzantine Musics’ notation system. Since January 2018, he has been teaching at ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory, Musicology Department, the history of Turkish Music, old notation systems and paleography of music, comparative studies of Turkish and Greek music, the music systems they rely on, mostly the notation systems they use.
