Biography:

Eray Altınbüken holds a PhD degree in composition from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Centre for Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM) where he studied under Prof. Ilhan Usmanbas, Prof. Hasan Uçarsu and Prof. Kamran Ince. He is a member of the academic staff at ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory Composition Department and at ITU/MIAM.

Altinbüken’s music could be described as a fusion of post-tonal harmonic elements with features pertaining to Western popular music, Turkish makam music and Turkish folk music within a contemporary Western art music framework. His works have been performed in Istanbul, Berlin, Essen and Antalya, most notably in events such as the International Mediterranean Contemporary Music Festival, Istanbul International Spectral Music Conference and Antalya International Piano Festival. Altinbüken also has music written for movies, documentaries and cartoons, mostly for Turkish Radio and Television TRT.
