Biography:

Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu started her music education during middle school years in Istanbul University Conservatory as a part time cello student. She continued her high school education in Istanbul Technical University Turkish Music Conservatory (ITU TMDK). She graduated from the double degree bachelor program in Cello Performance and Composition in 2013 from ITU TMDK. Between the years 2012-2015 she worked as a cellist in Bakırköy Chamber Orchestra. In 2016 she was granted with the Master degree from ITU TMDK Music Theory and Composition departmant with her thesis “Time in Tanburi Cemil Bey Taksims”. Later on her reseach was published in several report and paper co-writted with her thesis advisor Ozan Baysal namely; Hatipoglu, Z.A and Baysal, O. (2016). In Journey of Sound, Young Composer’s Festival her pieces for cello and piano; “Rüzgar Gülü”, “Dipsiz Göl”; for solo piano “Herhangi Bir Pencere” and electroacoustic composition “not A cello” were performed. In 2015 she founded the band SAVT with Merve Salgar and Canfeza Gündüz where they play improvisation performances and compositions. In 2016 she was selected for “Onebeat Istanbul” music exchange program and fulfil the “NA-MUTE-NA” project with the founding granted by the program. In 2016 she attended VICC “Residency for Composers” in Gotland/Visby. In 2017 the short movie “Beyaz Perdeden Yeşil Sahaya” to which she composed the music was showned in national and international film festivals. Since 2015 she works as a reseach assistant in ITU TMDK and besides, she continues her compositions, works as a cellist in various western, contemporary, Turkish Makam and improvisation music bands. She is currently doing her Ph.D. studies at ITU- Center For Advanced Studies in Music (MIAM).
