He was born in Akçaabat Isiklar village in 1943. He graduated from Istanbul University as a forest engineer in February 1969. He began working in the Turkey National Student Federation (TMTF) folk dances group in 1962. He went to France in 1963 for perform in abroad. Since then, he has participated in many festivals both locally and internationally as a performer and a tranier. His efforts helped the festivals (associations) to gain international dimension by taking the festivals out of the Black Sea area. In 1964 he joined the Turkish Folklore Foundation (TFK).He worked as a teacher in Halkevleri and Ankara TÜFEM Between 1969 and 1972. Between 1972 and 1976, he worked as a teacher in Trabzon - Akçaabat Public Education and Folk Houses. He founded the Black Sea Folklore Ethnography Tourism Association. (KARAFOLK) than returned to Istanbul in 1976. He worked as a teacher at the Folklore Institute and many other schools. In 1985 he worked as a lecturer in the Department of Folk Dance of ITU Conservatory. In October 1989, he was admitted to the conservatory. He retired in 2008 because of the age limit but he is still working as a lecturer.
